Connections Meeting - Jan.13th!!!

Leaders!

We are so exciting about Dreaming for 2009 & growing a Connections Ministry filled with not only vibrant & growing Small Groups, but also Book Studies, special interest groups & online groups that will enable as many folks to connect with God & each other.

Our Mission is to partner with people to help them reach their God potential & Connections is determined to do just that!

We will be hosting our 1st Quarterly Leadership Meeting for ALL existing & potential new Small Group Leaders desiring to launch a group of their own in 2009. We try to keep meetings to a minimum (quarterly) because everyone is so busy leading others and for that reason, I cannot stress enough the importance of your presence at quarterly Connection Events for Leaders.

Join us, Tuesday, Jan.13th at 8pm, at Cooper City Campus, Rm 126, or via your laptop (Internet Campus) as we gather to:

-SHARE Curriculum suggestions & upcoming alignment series for the 1st quarter of 2009 globally
-2009 Goals
-New Metrics & changes your role will have going forward
-The unveiling of our own Mission & Vision statement as CONNECTIONS & Small Groups
GEARS update!

We are eager to share the suggested curriculum our Pastor would like to see utilized in existing small groups, an upcoming alignment series, upcoming Book Studies and the new GEAR 6 - Biblical Certificate (launching in just a few weeks)!

Thanks for ALL you do. Look forward to seeing you at our Connections Meeting! Go God! Go 2009!!

Our goal at this meeting is 100% participation either by attending live at Cooper City Campus or by logging on via the Internet as Meeting will be streamed LIVE.

Lets all gather & make certain we launch the year off as "ONE Church, Where You Are".

Dreaming for 2009

I miss the giftrevolution.com series...havent been able to take the magnets off my car. I think in many ways...I dont want it to be over, and in others, I feel we will always be living in a giftrevolution as Christ followers.

To love God, is to love on others. And when you love, you naturally look for creative ways to give...As HE did. God began the revolution with Christ.

2009 is around the corner...I have so many dreams for this year. I love starting a new journal each year...going over highlights, challenges, dreams for the incoming year. This new years journal cover reads "dream, think, imagine, inspire"...

and we are praying to do just that as we grow a Connections Ministry at Flamingo that will partner with people & help them reach their God-potential.

We will be launching a marriage series in Feb, Starting Point at all campuses, several relevant book studies and another session of GEARS in the 1st Quarter of 2009. We have so many plans!

I look forward to ALL God will allow us to experience. Lets pray for an amazing 2009!!

Small Group of friends...BIG Gift Revolution

Last night, we got together to give a gift revolution christmas to a family newly arrived to the US from Cuba...it felt so awesome to be an extension of Christ in their lives..to give them some HOPE in His name, and to bless family members of Friends that are like family to us (The Acostas).

Our giving wont always be to someone we know...someone we love...or even someone we have good feelings about as Pastor T said just this weekend...but giving should be part of WHO we are when we come to know the Love of God.
For "He GAVE us...HIS only son"...thank you God for starting the Gift Revolution with Jesus.

God is in the small stuff...

There's something about winding down the day once the house is "asleep"...with a soft-lit candle, comfy socks, a good book & some quiet time with God. It rejuvenates the soul.

I'm reading a book that ponders that very statement on top..."God is in the small stuff" and tonights devotional ends with these points to ponder. Had to share:
  • God speaks. Do you listen?

  • God commands. Do you obey?

  • God leads. Do you follow?

  • God is more likely to speak to you with a gentle whisper than with a loud voice.

  • God values you for WHO you are, not what you do.

  • God knows what's in our hearts...we might as well get right to the point.

Enough said.

Bigger picture

I had the privilege of worshipping God with Pris Weds night...and its a moment I will undoubtedly cherish in my heart for many reasons...

you see, she is someone that totally trusts God with her heart...her steps...His way for her life.

And this morning, as she stepped on that plane to fly cross country after the Dream He has placed in her heart...she had so much peace in her voice, and simply said "I am choosing to look at the bigger picture".

May we always do just that! Fully trust in the plan God has for our lives...

He has a way of working all things for good in our lives.

I LOVE FRIDAYS!!!!!

My 6 yrs old, Chris, woke up today yelling..."I love Fridays Mami"!!! He loves them because its the last day of school...and he says "we will have 2 family days" :)

I love Fridays because its the day I have to make my house a home...I light candles...turn on some music (today its been the fabulous Diana Krawl CD) get groceries, pull my hair back & just enjoy organizing, cleaning, washing some clothes, catching up with "thank you cards"...but most of all adding those special touches to make our home a safe & sweet haven. There's no better feeling as a wife & mom!

My other thought as I go from room to room is of the weekend and what they now mean to me being in Ministry. I am honored & LOVE my place at Flamingo. We are so blessed to be part of a church that is intentional, relentless, and ever so CREATIVE! This weekend will be amazzzzing....next weekend, HIStoric, as Pastor T reveals the Christmas Series which will inspire the WORLD.

You will want to invite every person, neighbor, family, coworker, HUMAN you know!!!!!

Making a Difference!

The Results! In the words of the Miami Rescue Mission…"Turkeys, Hams and Pies will help feed the homeless on Thanksgiving(Cooper City, FL) --- Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1st and 2nd, 2008 --- It was an exciting two days as Flamingo Road Church in South Florida challenged its' members to "Flip Us a Bird" to benefit the Miami Rescue Mission/Broward Outreach Centers. During the two day challenge, 615 turkeys, 199 hams and 491 pies were donated to help feed the homeless on Thanksgiving Day!

During the Saturday and Sunday church services on November 1st and 2nd, Pastor Troy Gramling challenged his members to go right after the service they were attending and buy a turkey, ham or pie to donate to the Miami Rescue Mission/Broward Outreach Centers. The response was so overwhelming that one nearby Publix sold all 540 turkeys that they had on hand. Other members traveled to other grocery stores to pick up their ham or turkey. Many people brought more than one turkey or ham and one family came with 10 turkeys to donate! Another family brought $500 dollars worth of Publix gift cards!

The church set up two drop off points at their main campus at 12401 Stirling Road in Cooper City. Their other campuses in Doral, Hallandale and Sawgrass also had collections that were dropped off at the main location. The drop off points stayed busy all afternoon and evening on Saturday and all day on Sunday.

James Whitworth, Director of the Broward Outreach Centers in Hollywood and Pompano figured the total worth of the donations:

Turkeys 615 ea x 20lb = 12,300lbs x $1.59/lb = $19,557.00

Hams 199 ea x 7lb {avg} = 1,393lbs x $2.54/lb = $3538.22

Pies 491 ea x $6.29 = $3088.39

Gift cards $520
Total Donations: $26,703.61

Whitworth said, "I am extremely excited about the donations because during this difficult economical time, food donations have been down and this will give the Mission and Centers a much needed boost! Rev. Ronald Brummitt, President of the Miami Rescue Mission and Broward Outreach Centers said, "We are so thankful for Flamingo Road Church.

Go God ... Go Flamingo! See more this weekend at one of our campuses....

What do Sunsets mean to you?

Sunsets have always been a calming force in my day...sweet reminder of the Artist our Father is...and a reminder that we were alive to see another day!

Sunsets on Tuesday now have an even more profound meeting as Pastor T has challenged us on Staff to fast from Sunset on Tuesday to Sunset on Weds...and whether you are fasting from food, TV, blackberry or your laptop, the sense is One body, One Christ, One church, His church, united in Spirit, spending time in prayer, thinking, dreaming, expecting unimaginable things this Christmas Season...YES!! We have been planning our Christmas series for a few months now at Flamingo...and its going to be like NOTHING you have ever seen or experienced. Its going to be SO BIG, SO HUGE, we are busting at the seams.

We know, feel, see God ALL OVER IT, and will look back to this Christmas season saying WOW GOD!!!!!! Don't miss the unveiling of our Christmas Series November 22nd. Begin to create anticipation in your Small Groups...and join us on the Tuesday Sunset Fast as we pray, dream, anticipate what's to come!

Taste of Small Groups (Nov.19th)

Team, I wanted to give you heads-up as to our plans for the last GEARS night (Nov.19th) We would like end the night with a TASTE OF SMALL GROUPS EVENT- chocolate fondue style globally at every campus (lets get creative online) right outside the Lobby as Gears exits.

The Vision for that night would be to have existing SGLeaders for each campus in the Lobby with HIGHLIGHTED Name Tags, maybe high top tables, music, and a Chocolate fountain in center, giving folks an opportunity to meet existing SGLeaders and giving them an op to be up close & personal, ask questions, get a feel for group.

Action Items:

* SGL participation

* Environment to be set in Lobby

* Lead Coordinator for EACH Campus & SG Volunteers for event

Let me know your thoughts. This is our platform & op to LAUNCH folks into Small Groups.

Its hard to sleep...

I leave Flamingo every Wednesday night so grateful to God for what He is doing through our Gears journey......leave thankful for all the lives that have made no excuses but have taken that NEXT STEP...and so appreciative of the Team that surrounds me.
Its hard to sleep when I get home! I go over all the faces I saw...everything that was said...all the laughter & tears shared as we learn of His word and just dream about the next NEXT step for all these lives...
Thank you guys for getting your people to GEARS and for LEADING by example. When you CHOOSE. LEAD. CONNECT, not only do you reach your God-potential but you partner with others in the process. Its a beautiful thing!

5.2 Million REASONS!

Did you know we were surrounded by 5.2 million people in South Florida? 5.2 million reasons to think creatively, run after it now & rest later. 5.2 million reasons to pray, fast & pray harder...who will you invite to Flamingo Road Church this weekend? Just take a look around...you may bump into someone who eagerly needs God.

Opportunity to bless our Pastor...

October is Pastor Appreciation Month (should be every month :) but I always think...what an opportunity to bless our Pastor!

I wish sometimes we had naked pastor cameras at all times following us around during the week so that you guys would get to see Pastor Troy's heart and passion. I mean, you get to "see it" experience it on the weekend when he steps on that stage...but what a glimpse into his heart when he's up close & personal, and leading a meeting like today. His passion is contagious....his sense of urgency stirs your soul, his determination to tap into every angle possible so that we can reach that person who is living life away from God, riveting. My heart just thinks, thank you God for our Pastor T.

We have an opportunity to bless him this month as the Small Group Team...if you feel that nudge to contribute to a gift card, please stop by the Gears corner tomorrow night, or over the weekend and leave your name/monetary gift for group Gift card. If you're at one of the campuses, please see your Campus Pastor with your donation.

Lets challenge our SGs even to be part of the donations & make it a HUGE starbucks gift card...to cover coffee for a year :-)

Monday, October 20, 2008

What will you do in 70 days!

Do you realize we only have 70 days left in 2008?

Pastor Troy got us thinking during our Staff Fast last week that the clock was ticking in this year...and if we were going to see continued life change & kingdom impact, we have to intentionally seek, growth as individuals, strive towards that next level in leadership & think, think, think.

Here are some of the goals he asked us to set with God, how about you join us?

Number of Books I will read in 70 days?

CDs/Mp3s/podcasts I will listen to in 70 days?

Workout _____ times in 70 days?

Eat right?

Think up great ideas to further the kingdom?

Date nights without the kiddos?

Mommy moments?

Time is such a gift....how will you make the most of it? Click on comments and leave your thoughts today. -L

Leadership Principle Thursday!

We taped Gear 5 live this morning as a Staff as Pastor Troy passionately delivered his 7-8 top picks from 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.

What a morning!! learned LOTS...

So much to digest, to think about...to put into "gear".

The one question that stood out the MOST to me was..."How can I add VALUE to the people I work with?"

to the people I do ministry with...do life with...live with.

Navigator Group - "Your Careers Ministry" now gathers Tuesday evenings at 7pm in the Student Building" weekly to partner with you with life-coaching, resume building, interviewing & expanding your networking. Bring a friend!

"Be still..." HOW???

"Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act"...
Psalm 37:7
I don't know if its hard for you but it is SO HARD for me to be still.....so hard. God has to sometimes practically allow a flu in my life to get me to stay in bed...and "be still". (like yesterday)
When I am still though, it is so cool to just hear His whispers...carry on loooong conversations with Him, dream His Dreams...rest in His arms.
Sometimes the flu bug can be a blessing as silly as that sounds...take time to get to know His heart. Nothing like being in His arms. -L

There will be an additional Gear 6 option for Pastoral Development and a Gear 7 offering a Seminary Route for those seeking 1 year accredited Seminary Degree.

We are so excited about offering this to not only our Leaders but to those doing life at Flamingo. Our desire is to grow future Leaders as we grow 50 Campuses globally.

Pastor Troy is challenging every SGLeader to partake in GEARS by registering not only yourselves but your entire small groups for the series.

It is an alignment series, Students & Children's will also be teaching GEARS!

Registration for the 10 week series will be just $59. This is strictly to cover materials & content. Each student will receive a backpack filled with a binder, content, 2-3 books & journal you will need for the journey

You can begin to register your Small Groups September 27th online or at any SG Corner.

Welcome to our Connections Team Blog!

Leaders!

We are launching our very own Connections Blog…our new interactive way of communicating with you, our Small Group Leaders! We will be adding new features to this website as we evolve like…Small Group pictures, calendar of events, SGLeader training, the announcement of new curriculum arrival, everything & anything you need to know as the Small Group Leaders of Flamingo.

You can post comments and even guest host a post!

Our goal is to connect the Small Group Leadership Team as we grow to 50 campuses. There is no doubt, we are all in the business of connecting lives…and as we do just that, we partner with them in reaching their God-potential. Thank you for your commitment to LEAD.
